Menus Setup

There are a few options you should consider when setting up your Breeze menus in WordPress.

To configure these settings, go to your admin control panel and navigate to:
Appearance → Breeze Options → Layout & Appearance → Header & Navigation

Menu Display Options

  • Menu Placement
    • Menu can be placed above or below the main header logo.
  • Horizontal Spacing
    • You can set up horizontal spacing (padding) in between menu items
  • Vertical Positioning
    • You can set up the vertical spacing (padding) of the menu
  • Display Captions
    • Display mini help captions below top-level menu items. (*see instructions below)

Creating Your Menu

To create a menu, just navigate to Appearance → Menus and click the plus symbol (+) and name the menu something reasonable (e.g; Main Menu). Now you can add any Page, Post, or Category item and drag to reorder. You can also drag to an indented level to create sub-level/drop-down menu items. Here’s a more detailed tutorial on general WordPress menus if you get stuck for ay reason.

Enabling Sub Captions

You can add sub-captions to your top level menu items (make sure it is enabled in the Breeze theme options). In the menu manager, you should notice a “Description” field below each item. If you don’t see it, just click “Screen Options” at the top right corner of your screen and ensure “Description” is selected. If the Description field is already populated with the excerpt of the post, it’s okay to delete it. Try to keep the caption within just few words so not to overrun the menu title.
